About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Firewall Engineer to design, implement, and manage firewall solutions that ensure the security and integrity of our network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will lead firewall-related projects, provide technical guidance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain robust security postures against evolving threats.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of firewall technologies including configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing firewall policies in complex network environments.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP), routing, switching, and VPN technologies.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network security issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills for clear documentation and collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in monitoring and reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCNP Security, Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE), or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in network security with a focus on firewall engineering.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing firewall teams or projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with automation tools for firewall management and network security operations.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to automate routine tasks and enhance firewall management workflows.
  • Familiarity with cloud security principles and technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of SIEM tools and integration with firewall logs for enhanced threat detection.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage firewall solutions to safeguard the organization's network infrastructure.
  • Perform advanced configuration, maintenance, and optimization of firewall systems.
  • Develop, update, and enforce firewall policies to protect against internal and external security threats.
  • Monitor network traffic and analyze logs to identify, investigate, and mitigate security risks proactively.
  • Collaborate closely with IT teams to integrate firewalls with existing systems and network architectures.
  • Provide technical leadership and expert guidance on firewall best practices, network security standards, and emerging technologies.
  • Conduct regular system audits and vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with organizational security policies and industry standards.
  • Lead incident response efforts related to firewall breaches or anomalies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide training on firewall technologies and security protocols.
  • Stay current with the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to continuously improve firewall defenses.
