About The Position

As the Lead Financial Planner, Practice Development for Innovation Wealth and Aviso Wealth, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive financial planning solutions to members while leading the growth, adoption, and integration of financial planning practices across the Wealth team. As a subject matter expert, you will play a critical role in developing financial planning processes, coaching Wealth professionals, supporting referral and business development strategies, and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality financial planning services. You will help translate member goals, financial insights, and wealth planning opportunities into personalized strategies while supporting organizational growth through education, innovation, and best practices. This role combines member-facing financial planning responsibilities with leadership in practice development, capability building, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Financial Planning, or a related discipline plus 4–6 years of job-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial planning principles, wealth management, retirement planning, and investment strategies.
  • Proven experience delivering holistic financial planning services and supporting advisor practice development.
  • Experience developing training programs, coaching professionals, and driving adoption of new processes and practices.
  • Demonstrated business development, relationship management, and member service capabilities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across multiple teams and stakeholder groups.
  • Detail-oriented and risk-aware, contributing to the safeguarding of the organization's assets, reputation, and regulatory obligations.
  • Strong digital literacy, including experience with financial planning tools, CRM systems, and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining current industry knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive financial planning services to members, providing personalized recommendations and strategies that align with their goals, objectives, and risk tolerance.
  • Develop and maintain strong member relationships through proactive engagement, financial reviews, and ongoing planning support.
  • Create individualized financial and portfolio plans that address wealth accumulation, retirement planning, risk management, estate considerations, and diversification strategies.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of financial planning processes, procedures, tools, and best practices for the Wealth team.
  • Design and deliver training programs, coaching, and ongoing development opportunities that enhance financial planning knowledge, adoption, and consistency across Wealth professionals.
  • Support retail and Wealth employees in identifying member financial planning opportunities and making effective referrals that improve member outcomes.
  • Act as the financial planning subject matter expert by providing guidance on planning software, workflows, and industry best practices.
  • Partner with Wealth Advisors, Financial Planners, Consumer Advisors, and leadership teams to support integrated member experiences and achievement of organizational goals.
  • Promote financial planning services through member education initiatives, seminars, workshops, and community engagement activities designed to increase awareness and participation.
  • Support the development and execution of business growth strategies, marketing initiatives, sales targets, and member service objectives.
  • Foster business development through relationship-building, networking, and cross-selling opportunities that strengthen member relationships and expand wealth services.
  • Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to ensure recommendations and planning practices remain current and relevant.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of wealth products, services, compliance requirements, and industry regulations to support sound financial planning recommendations.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives, innovation efforts, and continuous improvement activities that enhance advisor effectiveness and member experiences.
  • Support and promote Innovation Federal Credit Union both internally and externally while demonstrating our values and commitment to community engagement.
  • Must have the ability to travel throughout Innovation's service regions as required.
  • Innovation's Travel Practice Guidelines will be followed.
