About The Position

The Lead Financial Business Analyst provides portfolio-level finance leadership across the Engineering and Product organization during a period of significant transformation. The role brings financial rigor, clarity, and forward-looking insight to a broad portfolio of investments, enabling disciplined prioritization, sequencing, and value realization that advances the customer journey across digital and in-store channels. The position will be based in our Pleasanton California office location. We currently require employees to work onsite Monday through Thursday to support collaboration and engagement. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related quantitative field with strong grounding in financial analysis and business strategy.
  • Eight or more years of progressive experience in finance and business analytics within complex, fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a trusted advisor delivering insights and recommendations that inform decisions across product, technology, and business leaders.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to connect financial insights to product strategy, operating models, growth initiatives and a broad range of new program tools, features, and capabilities, supporting informed decisions and long-term value creation.
  • Proven experience leading financial modeling scenario planning, quantitative and qualitative investment analytics, while applying sound judgment in ambiguous and evolving situations.
  • Advanced analytical and data mining skills with experience working in large, complex data environments to translate data into clear and actionable financial insights.
  • Experience working with SQL based data platforms, Power BI, and enterprise financial systems such as Oracle EPM or equivalent tools within large complex environments.
  • Strong professional presence and relationship building skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly and tailor messaging to different audiences to inform and influence decision making.
  • Highly organized and flexible team player who demonstrates initiative and effectively manages multiple priorities and details in dynamic and evolving environments ranging from well-defined to unstructured.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SmartView, PowerPoint, ability to quickly learn the Albertsons and industry business context, and proactively identify opportunities that support value creation, financial and strategic impact.

Responsibilities

  • Provide portfolio-level financial leadership across assigned organizations with the technology organization. Including visibility into investment performance, spend trends, risks and opportunities, and value realization.
  • Lead complex financial modeling, scenario planning, and investment evaluations for major programs, product features, and platform capabilities, informing and shaping prioritization, sequencing, and portfolio level tradeoff decisions.
  • Own end-to-end financial governance for close activity and product portfolio analytics, including forecasting, forward-looking projections and assumptions that quantify financial impact, returns, and risks, informing near-term execution and longer-term product and platform roadmaps.
  • Serve as the primary owner and strategic steward of portfolio investment governance tools and supporting systems, ensuring data integrity, alignment to enterprise priorities, and accurate measurement and budget-loading validations that enable executive-ready insights.
  • Fulfill finance controller responsibilities across external services and contractor labor used to augment full-time teams, including review of role requests, statements of work, budget alignment, and approval of funding details within established authority thresholds, with direct supplier engagement as needed.
  • Develop business commentary and financial narratives that require deep understanding of underlying demand drivers, cost models, and portfolio economics, supporting leadership discussions and decision reviews.
  • Partner closely with product, technology, operations and finance leaders to deliver executive-ready insights, narratives, recommendations, and decision frameworks tie directly to business outcomes, strategic priorities, and governance requirements.
  • Support the evolution of operating models, ownership structures, and governance, maintaining financial continuity as global and India-based teams are integrated and scaled.
  • Drive closed-loop accountability through post-investment reviews, reinforcing learning discipline and continuous improvement across portfolio and labor investment decisions.
  • Operate with a high degree of ownership across multiple workstreams simultaneously, applying sound judgment in ambiguous and evolving environments while maintaining momentum, continuity, and delivery against portfolio priorities.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with Engineering and Product leadership (typically VP and SVP level) to drive a holistic view of technology investments and provide actionable recommendations that optimize business performance. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders.
  • Bridge technology execution, product strategy, and financial performance by creating a unified investment narrative for C-level executives. Present insights, recommendations, and financial outcomes at quarterly steering committee meetings.
  • Drive financial rigor, accountability, and value realization across major technology transformation initiatives, including AI First, Geographic Optimization, and other strategic enterprise programs.
  • Serve as the global finance leader for the assigned technology portfolio(s), with accountability across the U.S., Canada, Philippines, and India. Partner with regional finance leaders to develop plans and forecasts, evaluate performance, and drive consistent interpretation of financial results.
