About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This role will lead critical finance initiatives, partnering across broader finance and accounting teams to drive and accelerate business priorities that align with strategic and financial goals. The Lead Financial Analyst will provide financial insights and develop a point of view on critical business decisions, assist in leading the daily function of the financial analyst team, and facilitate annual and long-range financial planning processes across the organization. This role involves advanced coordination and collaboration with managers for the completion of annual operating and capital budgets. The analyst will maintain and report management systems, reviewing all financial data for accuracy, and maintain various departmental statistical and financial data. Projects include evaluating the financial impact of new programs, formulating financial forecasts and modeling, preparing projections for new building projects, rate analysis, and other projects. An advanced understanding of accounting principles and standards is required. The lead financial analyst must be professional and demonstrate leadership ability, with the capacity to use knowledge in making forecasts based on statistical analysis and interpret complex financial and accounting data. The role requires an individual who is self-directed and autonomous, yet capable of working in an interdependent role. Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills are necessary to collaborate with managers. Attention to detail is essential, and work must be well-documented. The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and employees, both orally and in writing, is crucial.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other Business-related degree required.
  • At least five years of related work experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Advanced understanding of accounting principles and standards is required.
  • Must be professional and demonstrate leadership ability.
  • Able to demonstrate use of knowledge in making forecasts based on statistical analysis.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial and accounting data.
  • Must be self-directed, autonomous and yet be able to work in an interdependent role.
  • Must have excellent critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills to collaborate with managers.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Work must be well documented.
  • Must be able to communicate with all level of management and employees, both orally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or other professional certification is preferred, but not required.
