About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This role involves leading critical finance initiatives and partnering across broader finance and accounting teams to drive and accelerate business priorities that align with strategic and financial goals. The Lead Financial Analyst will provide financial insights, develop a point of view on critical business decisions, and assist in leading the daily function of the financial analyst team. This position facilitates annual and long-range financial planning processes, coordinates and collaborates with managers on annual operating and capital budgets, and maintains and reports management systems, reviewing all financial data for accuracy. The role also involves maintaining various departmental statistical and financial data, evaluating the financial impact of new programs, formulating financial forecasts and modeling, preparing projections for new building projects, rate analysis, and other projects. An advanced understanding of accounting principles and standards is required, along with demonstrated leadership ability, the use of knowledge in making forecasts based on statistical analysis, and the ability to interpret complex financial and accounting data. The ideal candidate must be self-directed, autonomous, and capable of working in an interdependent role, possessing excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail is essential, and all work must be well-documented. Effective communication, both orally and in writing, with all levels of management and employees is crucial.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other Business-related degree required.
  • At least five years of related work experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Advanced understanding of accounting principles and standards.
  • Professional and demonstrate leadership ability.
  • Able to demonstrate use of knowledge in making forecasts based on statistical analysis.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial and accounting data.
  • Self-directed, autonomous and yet be able to work in an interdependent role.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills to collaborate with managers.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Work must be well documented.
  • Able to communicate with all level of management and employees, both orally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or other professional certification is preferred, but not required.
