About The Position

We’re looking for a Lead Field Service Engineer ready to take ownership of field operations and lead high-impact testing and maintenance projects across the U.S. This hands-on leadership role supports critical power infrastructure at power plants, hydroelectric dams, and major industrial facilities. As a Lead Engineer, you’ll coordinate onsite crews, ensure technical excellence, and build strong client relationships—all while mentoring junior talent and driving field success.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in field services, power plants, or industrial electrical systems
  • Deep knowledge of NETA standards and high-voltage testing protocols
  • Strong team leadership with proven ability to direct crews and manage shifting priorities
  • Experience developing testing plans and leading commissioning efforts
  • Skilled in client communication and problem-solving in high-pressure field settings
  • Familiarity with PowerDB, Microsoft Office Suite, and remote collaboration tools
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Technology, Power Systems Engineering, or related field
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be able to travel at least 75% and work extended hours, weekends, and holidays
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather, at heights, and in confined spaces
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Annual safety training and regional travel are required
  • Requires good vision, hearing, and English proficiency for safe, effective communication in noisy environments

Nice To Haves

  • NETA Level III or IV (or equivalent certification/license)
  • TWIC card
  • Journeyman license or military background in power systems
  • Experience commissioning substations or performing outage support
  • Familiarity with a broad range of OEM equipment

Responsibilities

  • Lead onsite testing and maintenance of LV–HV systems (480V–600kV): breakers, switchgear, relays, motors, cables, and transformers
  • Perform advanced diagnostics with Doble, TTR, Power Factor, Tan Delta, VLF, DC Hi-Pot, and resistance testing tools
  • Test, troubleshoot, and verify electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor relays
  • Develop and execute testing and commissioning plans for new installations and upgrades
  • Supervise and mentor field crews: assign tasks, ensure safety, and uphold quality standards
  • Serve as primary point of contact onsite: manage updates, gather requirements, and foster client trust
  • Document all work: complete test reports, commissioning records, and service logs
  • Maintain safety compliance: enforce PPE, LOTO, JHA, and RMS Energy protocols
  • Follow strict safety and PPE usage protocols due to noise, electrical hazards, and elevated work areas
  • Support emergency, shutdown, and startup activities across diverse job sites
  • Oversee proper care and safe use of fleet vehicles, tools, and testing equipment
  • Train and guide junior technicians in safety, process, and technical proficiency
  • Follow strict safety and PPE usage protocols due to noise, electrical hazards, and elevated work areas
