About The Position

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. This project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery next year. The candidate will act as the Lead Piping Field Engineer on the upcoming project. The candidate may start in the home office in Reston, single status, to support preconstruction planning, ahead of project mobilization to the field when the candidate will locate on a long-term assignment to Cheyenne. This position is contingent upon project award.

Requirements

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9 -12 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience on combined cycle facilities is preferred
  • Knowledge of modularization of piping and pipe racks, above ground & below ground piping systems and line testing preferred
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving ability
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams
  • Maintain, promote, and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft
  • Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H)
  • Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program
  • Must have work authorization within the United States of America

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned.
  • Schedules work to be performed, and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
  • Participates in the development of contract, subcontract, or vendor scopes of work, budgets, contract formation, and negotiations.
  • Proactively engages with their team's development through CPM, Competency Development / assessment and feedback.
  • Coordinates established area operational plans.
  • Coordinates activities with other disciplines or areas and clients’ resident representatives, as instructed by construction management.
  • Supervises the development of construction drawings and sketches.
  • Supports the development of planning construction methods and procedures.
  • Supports supervision the development of projections and schedules for workforce, material and equipment requirements.
  • Prepares installation work packages for foreman and general foreman.
  • Oversees the reporting of installed quantities to Field Engineering for verification and quantity claiming.
  • Reviews project controls documents on progress relating to cost and schedule.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of level 4 and level 5 project schedules.
  • Oversees the preparation of reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, and expenditures forecast.
  • Prepares construction methods, supports schedule development.
  • Oversees the coordination with other subcontractors and external stakeholders (or subcontractors).
  • Oversees the preparation of Field Material Requisitions for permanent plant equipment within their area of responsibility.
  • Ensures Zero Accident Philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
  • Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
  • Ensures the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations.
  • Monitors work activities and ensures the quality of work performed.
  • Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
  • Oversees engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
  • Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.
  • Oversees the preparation of testing processes and required test equipment.
  • Supports the development of Commodity Installation means and methods.
  • Implements understanding of industry / International Codes & Standards applicable to work scope.
  • Utilizes and leverages applicable automation software and processes as applicable.
