About The Position

The Family Time Coordinator is responsible for the direct supervision and coordination of a team of Family Support Workers (FSW). The FSW team serves as paraprofessional support to Dependency Care Managers, with primary focus on direct client services related to coordinating and supervising Family Time with families involved with the Dependency Child Welfare System of Care. The Family Time Coordinator will lead the FSW team in assisting with maintaining records, program referrals, accompanying/transporting children and parents to therapeutic services, other providers, and Family Time. Other duties of the FSW team include administering on site drug screening, gathering records and providing direct support to case management. The Family Time Coordinator will mentor/coach the FSW team to provide quality Family Time that includes modeling techniques, education and other supportive services using a family-centered approach to care. The team will develop and maintain client records and program documentation based on firsthand observations and assessments.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License and Vehicle - Essential: A valid driver's license and vehicle is required in order to transports clients around the community; attend trainings and other activities throughout the County and State.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills: Strong communication skills are essential in order to clearly and concisely coach parents and staff if needed during Family Time sessions. Strong written skills are required as observations of client contacts will be documented in SACWIS system and emails and other requests require a professional and courteous response.
  • Collaborative, solution-focused approach: A collaborative, solution-focused approach is essential in order to foster and develop relationships with clients, peers, and providers in the community; and to build consensus among parties with conflicting positions and opinions.
  • Computer literacy: Intermediate skill in Microsoft Suites and SACWIS system are required.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in child welfare.
  • Strong knowledge about dependency case management, supervised family time and family centered case practice in child welfare systems of care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision to a team of Family Support Workers, to include managing scheduling, time, workload and effective services for the team and clients served.
  • Conduct, Develop, Monitor and Manage Family Time activities. Must act decisively, when necessary to protect clients and model appropriate boundaries for direct reports and clients participating in Family Time.
  • Identify, Adhere to, and Monitor Family Time Guidelines to successfully achieve permanency for children placed in out-of-home care.
  • Assess child and family needs; develop and monitor service plans; coordinate the delivery of services; ensure all referrals and linkages to children/parents/caregivers are completed.
  • Monitor/Prepare all required documentation and submit within the required timeframes; make recommendations; testify at court hearings regarding reunification, permanent guardianship, termination of parental rights, or other case management activities.
  • Ensure documentation occurs within the SACWIS system and other related systems within required timeframes. Oversee professional, timely program case documentation and reporting, including the tracking and monitoring of client progress and outcomes.
  • Adherence to the local SOC values, goals and priorities for Brevard’s children, youth and families; Utilize a family centered strength based approach to care; Monitor quality of care by ensuring appropriate visitation plans are in place to correlate to the needs of the family.
  • Provide support to staff, children, caregivers and family members to ensure timely achievement of permanency; Coordinate cases with team members, providers, DCF and attorneys as needed.
  • Ensure staff have reviewed case information prior to every hearing in order to be prepared to answer any questions from the Court regarding the status of the case, services, and progress towards permanency; Dress appropriately for Court appearances and ensure all court hearings are attended timely by self or assigned staff.
  • Maintain own and staff’s training needs through completion of required in-service training hours, to include Wrap-Around Training.
