This role serves as the technical authority for container fabrication and welding processes, acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) across MIG, TIG, and Flux-core welding. The Lead Fabricator is the primary escalation point for weld quality, fit-up, and dimensional issues, and sets the standards for safety, quality, and fabrication best practices. This position will lead complex container fabrication and critical weld structures, approve weld sequencing, fixturing, and distortion control methods, and support engineering with design-for-manufacturability feedback. Responsibilities also include verifying weld parameters and process controls, owning weld inspection standards (visual and dimensional), analyzing rework, defects, and trends to implement countermeasures, and training and qualifying welders by process and application. The role supports audits and customer or government inspections, leads cross-functional problem-solving using A3, owns the welding CI roadmap for containers and small parts, leads kaizen events impacting safety, quality, and throughput, and mentors Tier III welders while developing future leads.
