About The Position

The Lead Evaluation Teacher/Instructional Coach supports classroom teachers with curriculum development, formal and informal assessments, 3-year reevaluations, and the development of MCAS Alt Portfolio Assessments. This role involves staying current with research, administering evaluations, training teachers on assessment tools and the IEP process, developing and modeling curriculum, meeting regularly with teachers for consultation and support, participating in IEP meetings, observing classrooms, acting as a resource for teachers, leading MCAS Alt Portfolio development, assisting with standardized testing, supporting the school's mission and vision, collaborating with various stakeholders, guiding training programs, assisting in developing a culture of lifelong learning, recommending resources, reviewing IEPs and progress reports, providing classroom coverage, and performing other assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree
  • MA certification Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities or Severe Disabilities
  • Minimum of 3 yrs. experience teaching in a special education setting
  • SEI endorsement
  • Demonstrated knowledge MA Curriculum frameworks and differentiation of content
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis and data-driven instructional planning
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MCAS Alt Portfolio assessments
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standardized, curriculum based and adaptive behavior assessment tools.
  • Has completed graduate level coursework in assessment practices and has completed formal training in the ethical administration, scoring, and interpretation of clinical and standardized assessments and stays current with educational achievement and adaptive behavior assessment tools
  • Must read, write and speak English fluently

  • May be required to physically restrain parties in situations where there is a risk of serious and imminent harm.
  • Demonstrate ability to use Microsoft Office, G-Suite and other district technology effectively

Responsibilities

  • Stay current in research and developments at state and national levels and provide ongoing training to ensure teachers implement research based best practices
  • Administers educational, achievement and adaptive skills evaluations as assigned by Principal
  • Assist and train teachers in the implementation of assessment tools, evaluation and IEP process
  • Develop and model implementation of functional academic and life skills curriculum aligned to MA curriculum standards including data systems to track student progress
  • Meet regularly with teachers to provide consultation and support around assessment, data analysis, student progress, instructional planning, and IEP development.
  • Support teachers with implementation of instructional technology
  • Participate in IEP and evaluation meetings and assist in the development of goals and objectives for the student to be included in the IEP
  • Regularly visit classrooms to observe, encourage, guide and support instructional effectiveness and student progress
  • Act as a resource for teachers by assisting them with organization, lesson plan development, data analysis, instructional strategies and integration of technology.
  • Lead the development and implementation of individual MCAS Alt Portfolios; Specifically complete skills surveys, select strands, match measurable objectives with learning standards, develop data collection systems, select evidence, ensure data entry is complete in Cognia and information is printed and compiled into the MCAS Alt portfolio binder.
  • Assist with preparation and administration of standardized testing including MCAS.
  • Support school mission and vision
  • Collaborate with principal, curriculum coordinator, team leaders, teachers, and consultants to identify areas to implement new and existing curricula and assessments
  • Collaborate with principal, curriculum coordinator and other consultants to implement school objectives and provide support for teachers to improve instructional practices
  • Guide development, implementation, in-service training programs (individual and large group trainings)
  • Assist in developing a culture that encourages lifelong learning, reflective practice and collaboration
  • Recommend resources, assessments and technology for purchase for teacher and student use
  • Review IEP’s and progress reports
  • Provide classroom coverage when needed.
  • May be asked to cover for Teacher leave of absences.
  • Perform other tasks/responsibilities as assigned by the principal
