About The Position

Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Lead Environmental Specialist to join the Technical and Environmental Services Group at the BWI Marshall Airport field office. This position responsibilities include project management, technical oversight and compliance for deicing, stormwater, and sanitary related projects at BWI and Martin State Airports as well as providing support to other environmental projects, as needed. This field office is a designated 24/7 emergency essential facility. Therefore, the ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and during adverse weather conditions will be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in environmental science, engineering, ecology, biology, chemistry, geology or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Five years of experience in environmental science, regulations, engineering or management
  • Two years of which must have included responsibility managing environmental projects and supervising environmental professional and technical staff
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Strong organization skills
  • Ability to perform confined space entry
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to obtain a Homeland Security Clearance
  • Valid driver’s license with less than 5 points
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

  • Project management and supervisory experience in the areas of environmental compliance, recycling, and field site operations
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, communication, budget and contract management skills
  • Ability to independently work to provide oversight, planning, and financial management support on a wide range of environmental projects supporting numerous programs
  • Experience in staff leadership and workload planning and coordination
  • Ability to participate in team organization
  • Strong and time effective communication skills
  • Development and coordination with a wide variety of stakeholders for the success of the team’s programs
