About The Position

Join Valmet’s team of experts and contribute to delivering world-class solutions as a Lead Engineer in our Energy & Recovery Engineering team. This role is ideal for a technically driven professional who thrives on leading projects, solving complex engineering challenges, and collaborating across global teams. As a Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for executing engineering projects to ensure equipment design meets both customer requirements and Valmet standards. You will work closely with Product teams, Field Service, Sales, Global Engineering, and Project Management teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in design, layout, or stress engineering
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks for production-level drawings
  • Strong experience in the Pulp & Power industry, specifically: Recovery boilers, Power boilers, Evaporator experience is a plus)
  • Proven ability to lead projects and manage designers globally
  • Experience performing field measurements and supporting installation modifications
  • Ability to troubleshoot and support customer needs at job sites
  • Applicant must be authorized to work in the US.

  • Evaporator experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support engineering activities with a strong focus on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and equipment design
  • Execute and oversee engineering projects to ensure compliance with customer and organizational requirements
  • Collaborate globally to coordinate technical resources, project schedules, and engineering activities
  • Develop and review engineering drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Drive the adoption of engineering tools and continuous improvement of global processes
  • Coordinate with cross-functional and global engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Support customer and internal presentations related to design, scope, and troubleshooting
  • Provide technical expertise for site service projects and assist with field issue resolution
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and internal design and safety standards
  • Travel to customer sites (20–30%) to support project execution, troubleshooting, and data collection
