About The Position

The Lead Engineer will serve as the technical visionary and primary driver of engineering excellence within our professional, scientific, and technical services organization. This role is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of complex engineering projects, ensuring they meet rigorous quality, safety, and performance standards. The Lead Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, clients, and other engineers, to translate business requirements into innovative technical solutions. By mentoring and guiding engineering staff, the Lead Engineer fosters a culture of continuous improvement, technical growth, and operational efficiency. Ultimately, this position ensures that engineering deliverables align with strategic objectives and contribute to the company’s reputation for technical leadership and client satisfaction across the United States market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related technical field from an accredited institution.
  • At least 10 years of progressive engineering experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Proven expertise in managing complex engineering projects within the professional, scientific, or technical services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, industry standards, and regulatory compliance applicable to the United States.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead teams and interact with clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong technical and leadership skills daily to guide complex engineering projects from inception to delivery, ensuring solutions are both innovative and compliant with industry standards.
  • Effective communication skills are essential for coordinating multidisciplinary teams and maintaining clear, transparent interactions with clients and stakeholders.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills enable the Lead Engineer to identify potential risks early and develop strategic solutions to overcome technical challenges.
  • Project management skills are applied to balance scope, schedule, and resources efficiently, ensuring successful project outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with advanced project management tools and methodologies such as Agile or Lean Six Sigma.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies relevant to the industry, including automation, data analytics, or sustainable engineering practices.
  • Demonstrated success in driving innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within engineering teams.
  • Experience with AZ Municipal Clients is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of engineering projects from concept through completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.

  • Identify and mitigate technical risks, troubleshoot complex engineering challenges, and implement innovative solutions to optimize project outcomes.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to communicate project status, technical details, and address any concerns or changes in scope.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating emerging technologies and methodologies relevant to the professional, scientific, and technical services sector.
