This role involves collaborating, performing, and leading reliability and/or economic driven studies, including voltage, thermal, PV, transfer limit, short circuit, and stability assessments. The position requires analyzing and assessing complex transmission systems at numerous voltage levels, documenting and communicating results and recommendations through data manipulation, report writing, and summary presentations. The Lead Engineer will also strive to innovate and integrate improvements to increase the precision and efficiency of transmission planning, seeking to develop subject matter expert skills to mentor and support the team. Collaboration and interaction with internal teams and industry peers on regional activities (e.g., NPCC, ISO’s, etc.) are expected. A thorough understanding of various planning criteria, guidelines, and standards (e.g., NERC, NPCC, etc.) and analysis software packages such as PSS/E, TARA, and ASPEN is required. Participation in transmission and substation site inspections and attendance at industry workshops, training, and user group meetings as needs arise are also part of the role.
