Requirements

  • Knowledge of heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
  • Familiarity with operating In-Row and In-Rack Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs).
  • Ability to assemble liquid connections.
  • Ability to test flow, pressure, and temperatures.
  • Ability to interpret customer specifications and write thermal test plans.
  • Ability to use cooling equipment with operating AI equipment to simulate field operation.
  • Ability to evaluate cooling performance over a wide range of parameters.
  • Ability to report thermal and fluids handling performance.
  • Ability to use lab instruments and sensors to measure and record data.
  • Ability to use test data to calculate results.
  • Ability to provide support to other groups testing mechanical and electrical and performance.
  • Ability to assemble test stands, select telemetry, install sensors, operate data acquisition equipment, and perform computer logging of data.
  • Ability to learn thermal simulation software tools.
  • Ability to use scripts to extract data from DUT computer system.
  • Ability to report thermal capability of the design.
  • 1 to 3 years of related experience.
  • Experience in similar job roles.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and executes test of thermal and mechanical systems.
  • Evaluates function and performance to specification of AI computing trays, racks, and related equipment.
  • Develops and maintains a full understanding of the design and operating principles of thermal and fluid cooling systems for AI and other server racks.
  • Operates In-Row and In-Rack Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) to pump PG25 cooling liquid to racks and trays.
  • Performs hands-on tests: Operates CDUs and changes operating parameters to meet operation and test needs.
  • Assembles liquid connections to house chilled water (primary cooling loop) and to racks (PG25 in secondary cooling loop).
  • Tests flow, pressure, and temperatures to confirm operating parameters.
  • Participates in monitoring and sustaining these units.
  • Interprets customer specifications and writes thermal test plans.
  • Uses cooling equipment with operating AI equipment to simulate field operation.
  • Evaluates cooling performance over a wide range of parameters.
  • Reports the thermal and fluids handling performance of Devices Under Test (DUTs).
  • Uses lab instruments and sensors to measure and record data.
  • Uses test data of measured variables to calculate results for the exact performance parameters being investigated.
  • Provides support to other groups testing mechanical and electrical and performance for equipment on the test floor.
  • Ensures thermal support such as a chilled water supply at the required flow rate and temperature for other groups running tests.
  • Assembles test stands, selects telemetry, installs sensors, operates data acquisition equipment, and performs computer logging of data.
  • Learns thermal simulation software tools and extracts expected performance from simulation models.
  • Uses scripts to extract data from the DUT computer system for use as thermal test data.
  • Reports the thermal capability of the design to achieve product specifications.
