Lead Engineer - Substation

Duke Energy•Lake Mary, FL
•Hybrid

About The Position

The Lead Engineer – Substation provides technical leadership and oversight for substation electrical (physical) design work performed by internal and contract engineering resources. Projects include modifications, expansions, and development of new Duke Energy electric substations in Florida. The position reviews engineering design packages, develops and implements engineering processes, trains and mentors engineers, and leads teams. This role is at the specialist level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. The Lead Engineer independently solves complex problems, manages work, and provides technical leadership in areas of specialization with minimal supervision and increased latitude for unreviewed work. The position guides others, applies advanced engineering judgment, and works effectively across internal teams and external engineering partners. The position is based out of the Lake Mary, Florida office and is hybrid after the onboarding period. Hybrid employees must live within a reasonable commute of their designated Duke Energy facility, no more than 50 miles one way, and are expected to work onsite an average of three full workdays per regular workweek, as directed by their manager. Travel is 5–15%.
