About The Position

The Lead Engineer, Research supports a portfolio of on-campus and/or off-campus research, innovation, and laboratory buildings. This role is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and reliability of building systems, ensuring a safe, compliant, and high-performing environment for tenants, clients, patients, and visitors. The Lead Engineer, Research plays a critical role in maintaining building infrastructure and delivering exceptional service to support the unique needs of research and laboratory operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between assigned properties as needed
  • Minimum of 6 years of related maintenance experience; preferably in healthcare, commercial real estate, or hospital environments
  • Must be located in the Hershey, PA area with availability for after-hours emergencies and participation in on-call rotation
  • Must be in office, on-site, 5 days a week and drive to the various properties with employee owned vehicle, as needed
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, climb ladders/stairs, and perform extensive walking
  • Basic computer skills and comfort using maintenance or work order software
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without need for employer sponsorship now or in the future

Nice To Haves

  • technical or vocational training in maintenance-related fields preferred
  • Certifications (e.g., HVAC, CFC Handling, Electrical, Plumbing) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Complete maintenance and repair work orders using work order software
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and resolve issues safely and efficiently
  • Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and parts
  • Communicate effectively with tenants, vendors, and team members regarding building needs
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards, policies, and procedures
  • Support the Operations Manager, Research in monitoring building operations and vendor performance
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
