Eversource Energy•Berlin, CT
•$145,670 - $161,860•Hybrid

About The Position

The Lead Engineer, Grid Operations Technology provides senior engineering and technical leadership for planning, developing, integrating, implementing, operating, and continually improving technology that supports electric transmission and distribution system operations. The role serves as a senior technical subject matter expert across ADMS, OMS, SCADA, EMS, DERMS, power system applications and models, and associated communications and data systems. It works across System Operations, Engineering, Planning, IT, Telecommunications, Cybersecurity, Field and Substation Operations, and external partners to ensure operational technology is reliable, secure, integrated, and aligned with evolving grid requirements. The position leads grid modernization and the evolution of distribution operations capabilities, including integrating and operationally managing distributed energy resources and developing Distribution System Operations capabilities as Company needs evolve. The Lead Engineer independently resolves complex technical problems, leads multidisciplinary initiatives, provides engineering guidance, and develops technology strategies and solutions for safe, reliable, and efficient grid operations. The work is primarily in an office/hybrid environment, with occasional field, control center, substation, and vendor-site work. Employees in hybrid-approved roles must work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays; the third day is determined with the supervisor. The employee must be able to work up to five days in the office when needed or if the policy changes. The role requires availability for emergency restoration assignments and, as required, on-call or off-hours support for mission-critical systems. Travel throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire may be necessary. Weekend or off-hours work may occasionally be required for implementations, testing, system events, or operational needs. A bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least eight to ten years of experience in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the electrical utility industry are required. The annual salary range is $145,670 to $161,860, commensurate with experience; the position is eligible for a potential incentive.
