About The Position

As Lead Engineer Electrical & Instrumentation, you will play a critical role in shaping the electrical and instrumentation engineering scope and design for the Jansen Potash Project and Asset. You will provide technical leadership and assurance across high- and low-voltage systems, ensuring solutions are safe, compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with BHP standards and statutory requirements. Your work will directly support the successful delivery of one of Canada’s most significant mining developments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in Canada.
  • Significant industry experience in mining (surface, shaft, and underground), utilities, or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Ability to make sound technical decisions that influence functional strategy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in potash and underground operations is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with the SmartPlant design suite is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Govern the Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) as-built operational blueprint and assure the blueprint information at handover from all projects.
  • Set and govern a minimum sufficient set of E&I engineering standards and specifications for the operation.
  • Monitor critical assets within the E&I Operational blueprint and provide input into the LoA and 2YB on required renewals/replacements.
  • Provide E&I engineering technical support for Operations, working with Reliability, Maintenance, and Technology teams to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Implement E&I engineering strategies, plans, processes, and systems aligned with BHP requirements.
  • Support prevention through design, strategic procurement, and data-centric design initiatives.
  • Ensure designs meet project objectives and applicable Canadian and Saskatchewan mining regulations.
  • Identify and assess risks, make risk informed decisions, use BHP's risk management framework, and build a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
  • Participate in formal technical documentation reviews and approvals.
