Lead Engineer - Combustion Thermal Acoustics
About The Position
As a member of the Gas Turbine Engineering organization of GE Gas Power, part of GE Vernova, specifically a member of the Combustion Design module, you will be an active contributor to the advanced modeling, simulation and methods development activities. You will perform high-end thermoacoustics simulations to assess the stability of the combustion system and propose mitigation strategies. You will collaborate with design engineers and work closely with the Controlled Title Holders in supporting engine programs and root cause analysis while ensuring that designs meet all durability, operability, and emissions requirements.
Requirements
- Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
- Minimum 4 years of engineering experience in a practical application
- Minimum 4 years of experience solving dynamical systems using CFD, Finite Element codes and/or network models
- Thermoacoustics modeling and signal processing experience
Nice To Haves
- Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or closely related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
- Passionate about thermoacoustics modelling
- Experience running and analyzing combustion tests
- Familiar with AI and possess a continuous improvement (Lean) mindset.
- Someone who brings innovative mindset, is a team player, and has excellent presentation and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Use simulation and test data processing to conduct combustion dynamics analysis and assess system stability
- Develop mitigation strategies using thermoacoustics tools
- Assist in design decisions and root cause analysis by leveraging predictive analysis simulations
- Execute the analysis or evaluation projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to engineering practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
- Document work clearly and effectively present your work (including assumptions, status, and results) in formal and informal reviews.
- Contribute to the development of best practices and templates to be communicated with the global GE Vernova Combustion community.
- Embrace Lean principles and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
