The Lead Civil Engineer -Networks (PNY – Powering New York) is responsible for high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage transmission and distribution substation designs for all operating companies in Avangrid Networks with strong focus on high and medium voltage transmission projects in NYSEG and RGE service territories which are part of the PNY portfolio of projects. The Lead Civil Engineer will work closely with the construction and design team to develop drawings, specifications, and construction work orders to support the design, construction, and commissioning of electrical equipment. Substation designs include structural, grading, electrical clearance calculations, routing, and preparation of engineering drawings. The Lead Civil Engineer will also support concrete and steel designs on high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage transmission and distribution line projects. The PNY projects originate from the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) which stems from New York State’s Climate Act with a goal to reduce economy-wide greenhouse gas emissions 40% by 2030 (no less than 85% of 1990 levels by 2050) and 70% State’s Energy from renewable resources by 2030 (100% from zero emissions Electric Sources by 2040). The electric delivery system in New York contains approximately 5,600 miles of transmission lines & 621 substations. Position reports to the Unit Manager but will work day-to-day in a cross-functional project team and support project needs as directed by the project manager(s) & construction manager(s).
