About The Position

The Software Technical Lead is accountable for leading key aspects of project execution including scope, schedule, cost, technical, risk and quality for their discipline. The role involves leading day-to-day activities for Individual Contributors, both technical and operational, and working alongside the team to author and implement embedded software solutions. The lead will develop a good working relationship with the customer, Engineering Project Manager, and other project and engineering leadership. They will be responsible for understanding the technical scope, cost, and schedule for the project, and for planning, forecasting, coordinating, monitoring, and leading the software effort/team for the full SW development lifecycle of the assigned project area. This includes providing software team oversight to ensure delivery of a quality artifact/product, escalating issues in a timely manner, monitoring team progress, removing roadblocks, and driving accountability and ownership. The lead will also identify and manage dependencies, risks, and scope creep associated with the software effort, and if applicable, identify supplier scope of work and manage schedule. Communication of needs and status to product stakeholders regarding MGPP and MGTP is also a key responsibility, along with continuous demonstration of GE Leadership Behaviors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar from an accredited university
  • At least 4 years of experience in embedded software development.
  • Ability to prove status as a U.S. Person (U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, asylee or refugee status).

Responsibilities

  • Accountable as the Control Accountant Managers for project elements delegated by the Engineering Project Manager.
  • Accountable to lead day-to-day activities for Individual Contributors, both technical and operational.
  • Responsible to work alongside the team to author and implement embedded software solutions.
  • Accountable to develop a good working relationship with the customer, Engineering Project Manager and other project and engineering leadership.
  • Accountable to understand the technical scope, cost and schedule for the project.

  • Monitor team progress towards deliverables, remove roadblocks and drive accountability and ownership of individual and team commitments.
  • Identify and manage dependencies, risks and scope creep associated with the software effort for the project.
  • If applicable, identify supplier scope of work and manage schedule.
  • Work with product stakeholders to understand MGPP and MGTP and communicate needs and status.
