About The Position

At Saint Mary's Hospital, the Lead Emergency Room Tech provides direct patient care in the Emergency Room and functions as an assistant to medical providers and licensed nurses. This role involves assuming a lead position in organizing and ordering supplies, overseeing equipment repair and maintenance, and playing a key role in the education and professional development of new and existing ED Techs. The Lead ER Tech will report to the ED leadership group monthly on these and other issues concerning technicians.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Must have at minimum, a Connecticut EMT-B license. NREMT-B will be considered until the Connecticut license is acquired. Connecticut licenses that will be accepted include EMT, AEMT, EMTI; EMR license will not be accepted.
  • CNA and Medical Assistant Certification accepted.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS or CPR certification will be accepted.
  • Minimum of one (1) years of Acute Care experience in ED.
  • Ability to pass drug screenings and background checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with phlebotomy preferred.
  • 1-3 years of Emergency Services experience.
  • Emergency Department experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes a lead role by working with the nurse manager in organizing and ordering supplies.
  • Assumes a lead role in overseeing the repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assumes a key role in the education and professional development of new and existing ED Techs.
  • Reports to ED leadership group on a monthly basis regarding the above, as well as any other issues and concerns among technicians.
  • Performs other duties as required.
