About The Position

Iteris, Inc. is seeking a Lead Electronics Technician in Tampa, FL. This role requires an Associate's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field, plus 5 years of relevant work experience. The position involves providing superior technical knowledge in traffic operations, leading database conversions, troubleshooting traffic signal issues, supervising technical staff, and monitoring real-time applications. The ideal candidate will have expertise in various traffic signal controllers, cabinets, detection systems, and ATMS platforms, along with strong troubleshooting and client interaction skills.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electronics Engineering, or closely related field.
  • 5 years of work experience in the job offered or closely related occupation.
  • International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signals Certification – Level III.
  • Expertise/Knowledge of: Experience in various manufacturers’ traffic operations field equipment and technologies including traffic signal controllers, cabinets, vehicle and pedestrian detection systems, preemption and priority systems, and Connected Vehicle (CV) applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of various manufacturers’ traffic signal cabinets and equipment within the cabinet to be able to properly configure and troubleshoot complex intersection operations.
  • Advanced knowledge in a variety of manufacturers’ traffic signal controller platforms, programming techniques, and programming software including complex I/O logic and Malfunction Management Unit (MMU) programming.
  • Experience with various manufacturers’ ATMS software platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to perform intersection and device monitoring and reporting.
  • Advanced troubleshooting techniques to assist internal staff and clients with technical issues.
  • Experience reading/interpreting traffic signal documentation including traffic cabinet prints and engineered signal plans.
  • Advanced knowledge of bench testing procedures for both in cabinet and virtual cabinet testing software.

Responsibilities

  • Provide superior technical knowledge in the field of traffic operations related to traffic signal cabinets, controllers, and Advanced Traffic Management (ATMS) platforms for multiple vendors.
  • Organize, lead, perform, and supervise traffic signal controller database conversions for multiple different controller manufacturers and platforms.
  • Independently troubleshoot traffic signal cabinet/controller issues in field and lab environments.
  • Perform supervisory activities, including training, managing time of, and playing a critical role in recruiting and supervising technical support staff.
  • Lead technical team in field efforts maintaining client equipment, troubleshooting failures, making signal timing changes, and performing field data collection activities.
  • Monitor real time applications such as ATMS, CCTV, Travel Time Systems, and Signal Performance Measures (SPM).
  • Develop and continuously improve upon standard operating guidelines; ensure all technical staff are properly trained and follow the guidelines.
  • Closely coordinate with our department groups as needed.
  • Continuously improve project delivery (both quality and speed) through process improvements and staff training.
  • Interact professionally and respectfully with clients and citizens to ensure high levels of satisfaction.
  • Maintain knowledge of ATMS platforms, controller hardware and software to ensure technical competence.
