About The Position

The Lead Electrician is responsible for overseeing and performing the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of electrical systems and equipment supporting commercial, industrial, office, laboratory, and mission-critical facilities. This position provides technical leadership to electricians and maintenance personnel, ensures compliance with safety and quality requirements, and supports reliable facility operations within a highly regulated environment.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of commercial, industrial, government, nuclear, or facility maintenance electrical experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, controls, and facility infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman or Master Electrician License.
  • Experience supporting federal, DOE, nuclear, industrial, or manufacturing facilities.
  • Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS), fire alarm systems, and standby power systems.
  • Experience with lockout/tagout procedures and electrical safety programs.
  • NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Training certification.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily electrical maintenance activities for facility operations.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical distribution systems up to medium voltage levels.
  • Diagnose and repair motors, motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, switchgear, breakers, panels, lighting systems, and emergency power systems.
  • Supervise and mentor electricians, apprentices, and subcontractors.
  • Plan and assign work orders, ensuring completion in accordance with established schedules.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, single-line diagrams, specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment.
  • Support facility renovations, upgrades, and new construction projects.
  • Conduct inspections and testing using electrical diagnostic equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA requirements, and site-specific procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work documentation within CMMS systems.
  • Participate in outage planning, system commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, and maintenance personnel to resolve electrical issues.
