About The Position

In this role, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. On a medium sized job, performs the duties of a lead engineer in either an area, coordinating and directing a variety of disciplines, or as a Deputy Project Field Engineer, coordinating all activities related to the operation of assigned operating section.

Requirements

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in construction and technical inspection of electrical/design in areas such as installation and testing of electrical systems, lighting systems, high voltage equipment, grounding, DCS systems and cable pulling activities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H)
  • Demonstrated commitment to a Zero Accident safety program
  • Must be computer-literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Must be familiar with current industry quality standards
  • Basic ability to utilize the TeamsWorks suite and SetRoute application as the Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAPs)
  • Basic knowledge of Project Technical Requests (PTR) for routing and resolving Requests for Information (RFIs), Field Change Documents (FCDs), and Non-Conformance/Compliance Reports (NCRs) between project sites, contractors, clients, and home office

Responsibilities

  • Proactively engages with their teams’ development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback
  • Supervises a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline.
  • Coordinates with design on constructability issues.
  • Directs the preparation of requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services, and equipment.
  • Possesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting.
  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Possesses responsibility for coordinating between construction and startup to ensure the various system walkdowns are performed, interfacing with the startup specialist as required to support component/system turnover and assuming responsibility (as required) for area turnover coordination as determined by the PFE.
  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans
  • Supervises reviews of subcontractor submittals
