About The Position

Trueline’s client, a well established electrical contracting firm specializing in high quality commercial and industrial projects, is seeking a Lead Electrical Estimator to join their team in Salt Lake City. This role offers a rare opportunity to shape the estimating process from concept through bid submission, lead a small team, and make a direct impact on project profitability and growth. What You’ll Do as the Lead Electrical Estimator: Lead the full estimating lifecycle for electrical projects—from initial review of concept and drawings to final bid submission and presentation. Review plans, specifications and drawings to define scope, calculate labor, material and equipment costs, and determine resource requirements. Solicit, evaluate and manage subcontractor and vendor pricing proposals; negotiate to secure competitive terms. Propose cost saving ideas and value engineering alternatives to support winning bids and strong margins. Prepare and present bid packages and comprehensive cost summaries to internal stakeholders and clients. Ensure all estimates adhere to company policies, industry standards and best practices. Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, operations and field teams during project handoff and execution phases. Maintain and enhance estimating databases (historical pricing, vendor lists, cost indices) to improve accuracy and efficiency. Mentor and train junior estimators, fostering their technical growth and promoting consistency in estimating practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering (Electrical or similar), or equivalent hands on estimating experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ estimating experience in electrical contracting or construction environments.
  • Proficiency using Bluebeam and one or more electrical estimating software tools (for example: Accubid, ConEst, McCormick).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical construction methods, materials, labor practices and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical and problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings and technical specifications accurately.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills—able to work effectively across teams and with clients/vendors.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple estimates under tight deadlines, maintaining quality and accuracy.
