About The Position

The EKG Technician Lead is responsible for performing moderate to complex level electrocardiograms and/or rhythm strip procedures on patients admitted to the hospital facility. Recognizes and reports changes from previous EKG tracings as well as any life-threatening arrhythmias. Leads clerical functions necessary for maintenance of the EKG record according to the established policies of the department and LCMC Health.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR 2 years of work experience.
Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Nice To Haves

1 year of experience as an EKG Tech or monitoring cardiac rhythms.

Responsibilities

Performs routine EKGs according to department protocols. Handles complex cases in professional manner and escalates issues in a timely fashion.
Responds to Code Blue through the hospital for emergent EKGs.
Prepares EKGs for interpretation and further use by the physician.
Ensures that all patient charges are entered and track in the available radiology system.
Ensures each patient chart is properly created and results are mailed/delivered appropriately.
Maintains patient's medical record files in a timely and efficient manner.
Inspects and maintains equipment and reports all malfunctions.
Ensures that the equipment is cleaned and sterilized between patients.
Ensures that supplies are ordered in a timely fashion in order to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
Assists in planning and monitoring operational activities in order to implement the essential scope of services of the EKG department effectively and efficiently.
Communicates the mission, vision and plan in a clear, concise and professional manner to team members, verbally and/or in written format.
