About The Position

The Distribution Center Lead supports daily warehouse operations by coordinating work activities and providing direction to assigned team members to ensure production schedules, safety standards, and quality requirements are met. Under the guidance of the Shift Supervisor, this role serves as a working lead, assigning tasks, providing training and support, monitoring performance, and assisting with inventory accuracy and material needs. The DC Lead also performs hands-on distribution center functions, operates material handling equipment, and may act in the Supervisor’s absence to maintain continuity of operations.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ensure fair and consistent treatment of all team members.
  • Must be able to perform all physical demands of the position including bending, stooping, reaching, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs., frequently.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, written correspondence, memos, and have the ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Must be able to perform basic math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Must have critical and analytical thinking skills.
  • Must be able to work either first, second shift.
  • Must have and maintain good attendance record.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, encourage, coach/mentor, and inspire team members to excel in their skills and abilities while providing constructive feedback when necessary is preferred.
  • Basic computer experience with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred.
  • Experience reading load sheets and meeting those customer requirements preferred.
  • Experience to operate mechanical power lift devices such as forklift and/or pallet truck in all areas including narrow isles is preferred.
  • Previous distribution center experience and/or lead experience with demonstrated abilities to lead others in a fast paced environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receives daily schedule and requirements from Supervisor, then directs the work of departmental employees to include their job assignment for the day to meet the schedule and requirements.
  • Provides employees with and materials, direction, or whatever assistance they require to perform the assigned work for the department.
  • Coordinates with Supervisor to order necessary materials.
  • Assists Supervisor in maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Ensures the area is operated to meet or exceed established efficiency goals, safety goals, quality and other goals set by the department.
  • Operates a forklift truck and/or other material handling equipment.
  • Provides instruction and training for new employees.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and orderly work area.
  • Stands in for Supervisor during his/her absence.
  • Enters all required documentation/ information in spreadsheet and folders as needed per process.
  • Perform all functions of a DC1, DC2, Quality Inspector and other related duties as may be required.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.
