Position Summary Lead Director, Senior Category Manager, Photo and Services Are you passionate about building customer focused assortments, driving innovation, and leading high-impact retail strategies that shape how customers shop every day? This is an exciting leadership opportunity to shape the future of the Photo and Services business at CVS Health. As Lead Director, Senior Category Manager, you will lead a highly visible, customer-cherished portfolio with responsibility for driving sales, margin growth, customer engagement, vendor strategy, and omnichannel merchandising experiences across stores and digital channels. In this role, you will set the strategic direction for the category, translate customer and market insights into actionable business plans, and partner cross-functionally to deliver growth, innovation, and differentiated experiences for CVS Health customers. You will also lead and develop a team of Category Merchants and Analysts, building talent, accountability, and a strong culture of performance. Our Heart At Work Behaviors™ support this purpose. Requirements

  • 10+ years category management and/or direct spend experience, with a track record of meeting, or exceeding, financial objectives and P&L ownership.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate customer, market, and competitive insights into actionable category strategies.
  • Proven track record of influencing others with and without authority
  • Experience building high-performing, successful teams developing key talent.
  • Experience leading under pressure, adapting quickly to changing dynamics, and developing solutions that meet the needs of multiple business stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity, prioritize competing demands, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Previous experience developing presentations with strong executive presence, communicating complex business strategies clearly to senior leaders and cross-functional partners
  • Experience leveraging a strategic mindset with the ability to develop and execute category and merchandising strategies that drive business growth.
  • Experience leading category transformation, assortment optimization, SKU productivity, or promotional effectiveness initiatives.
  • Experience managing large-scale vendor portfolios and national brand partnerships
  • Expertise leveraging MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales and margin goals by attaining market share and thoughtfully managing all lines of the category P&L
  • Lead and manage large vendor relationships, including joint business planning development and vendor negotiations to secure innovation, funding, service levels, differentiated assortments and profitable growth.
  • Develop and implement category plans (i.e., plan optimal SKU mix; ExtraCare loyalty program; weekly, seasonal, annual promotional programs) for merchandising programs that reflect deep personal knowledge of our businesses, customers and client.
  • Initiate and execute strategic promotional strategies and marketing plans by influencing and aligning CVS partners (e.g., Inventory, Pricing, Promotion, Finance, Store Brands, Store Design, IT, Tech Platform, Store Operations, and Loyalty) and supplier partners to execute category priorities.
  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing team with clear goals, accountability, and a strong pipeline of future merchandising talent.
  • Leverage customer, loyalty, market, and competitive insights to identify growth opportunities, inform assortment, pricing, promotion, and merchandising decisions, and continually sustain a strong understanding of current competition.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of General Merchandising initiatives.
