About The Position

Resources for Human Development (RHD) is seeking an experienced and compassionate Lead Direct Support Professional (LDSP) to join their BLOOM Program. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys supporting individuals while also helping other Direct Support Professionals grow and succeed. The role involves providing direct care, mentoring team members, supporting daily program operations, and creating an environment where individuals can build skills, increase independence, and participate meaningfully in their communities. The BLOOM Program is a community-based program that provides comprehensive residential and day supports in staffed homes, focusing on individualized supports that encourage greater independence, personal choice, skill development, and community participation. As an LDSP, you will work closely with the Site Supervisor and other team members to ensure quality services and effective program operations while remaining directly involved with the individuals supported.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or mental health needs
  • Basic computer and internet skills
  • Ability to use email, timekeeping systems, and other programs required for the position
  • Understanding of trauma, trauma-informed care, and creating trauma-informed environments
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Clean driving record within the last 5 years
  • Ability to successfully complete required employment clearances, including FBI clearance when applicable

  • Previous Direct Support Professional experience
  • Previous lead, mentoring, or supervisory experience

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside Direct Support Professionals, management, internal departments, and other stakeholders to ensure quality services.
  • Mentor, train, observe, and support Direct Support Professionals.
  • Provide feedback to DSPs regarding the implementation of Individual Support Plans (ISPs).
  • Model effective and professional interactions with the individuals we support.
  • Help DSPs develop creative strategies for promoting greater independence.
  • Reinforce consistent, person-centered support practices.
  • Serve as a positive role model for other members of the team.
  • Support the Site Supervisor with assigned leadership and operational responsibilities.
  • Provide hands-on direct support to individuals receiving services.
  • Provide support according to each individual’s ISP and identified needs.
  • Help individuals develop and strengthen independent living skills.
  • Encourage personal choice, self-advocacy, and participation in daily activities.
  • Support individuals in residential and day program settings.
  • Provide services in accordance with applicable state, local, and federal requirements.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and trauma-informed environment.
  • Develop creative strategies to help individuals strengthen independent living skills.
  • Encourage individuals to actively participate in their daily routines and goals.
  • Provide individualized levels of support based on each person’s abilities and needs.
  • Promote greater independence while ensuring appropriate health and safety supports.
  • Maintain organizational systems within assigned homes based on individual needs, support plans, and program requirements.
  • Collaborate with management to prepare for and support daily program operations.
  • Help maintain organized and effective residential environments.
  • Communicate important information with the Site Supervisor and other team members.
  • Help ensure services are implemented consistently across shifts.
  • Follow applicable program policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings.
  • Perform additional responsibilities assigned by the Site Supervisor or program leadership.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements.
  • Follow applicable OSHA, fire, safety, fiscal, office, and personnel policies.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and on time.
  • Exercise good judgment and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Follow applicable health, safety, and security procedures.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to RHD values while performing all job responsibilities.
