About The Position

The Team Lead performs a wide variety of tasks and operations to prepare and cook foods for patients, employees and others; stocks and serves on tray line; organizes and assists with dish washing and cleaning operations; stocks storage areas and freezers; assists with inventories. This role will also be responsible for the oversight of dinner being prepared and served on schedule. Follows standard practice and procedures and complies with hospital department, regulatory and food service industry requirements for quality and sanitation. Correctly identifies customer groups and strives to exceed customer expectations. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s license strongly preferred.
  • ServSafe Certification required.
  • High school education or GED
  • Must be at least 21 years of age per Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services.
  • Must have patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
  • Good communication skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Basic clerical skills, basic experience with office equipment (telephone, copy machine, fax, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to problem solve and accept feedback when circumstances warrant such actions.
  • Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning.
  • Travel required.
  • Blueprint 360 or other computer software
  • Food production and service
  • Handling, storage and regulatory requirements

  • Staffing and employee relations
  • Modified diets and ability to reach and follow nursing bed board/jot sheet
  • Computer systems
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively present information to groups.
  • Ability and willingness to work professionally in a team with other personnel, patients, families, etc.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with the mentally ill, disabled, emotionally upset, varying age populations, and at times, hostile people within the hospital.
  • Must maintain high levels of personal integrity and willingness to be flexible with work schedule to meet hospital needs.
  • Must maintain a safe environment at all times.
  • MUST BE COMPUTER LITERATE

  • Institutional cooking experience preferred.
