About The Position

The Lead Dietary Aide supervises diet office and diet clerk position. Demonstrates the ability to be accountable for the efficient and effective operation of the diet office duties. Supervises trayline assembly/expedites trayline as needed. Assist as needed to maintain timely production in all areas of kitchen (cafeteria, patient, special function). Assist with administrative duties and reports as needed. Handles customer complaints and patient complaints as needed for customer service, maintaining service exellence skills and utilizing the appropriate chain of command. Participates in QAPI as assigned per leadership. Assist with interviewing and hiring of new nutritional employee's as needed. Performs daily productivity reports. Assists Food Service Manager and Supervisor in planning and organizing special functions and other events. At times may assume responsibility as supervisor in absense of Supervisor and Manager. Assist with employee scheduling and planning of adequate staffing needs. Maintains DFM database to most current and accurate information. Assists Clinical Nutritional Manager in Nutrition related projects as needed/assigned. Assists in receiving and responding to computer mail and phone messages. Ability to train employee's in computer related job functions. To be knowlegable in Call Center positions to train, and assist. Reports to Clinical Nutrition Manager or per department chain of command. Ablity to communicate effectively with dietitian's as needed for modified diet clarifications, to improve processes and other department professionals as needed for patient satisfaction within set standards and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Food Handler’s Card and/or ServSafe Certificate required
  • At least two years experience in a nutritional acute health care facility or long-term care/rehab facility as a diet clerk preferred
  • Must have a working knowledge of kitchen operation.
  • Knowledge of food handling, food preparation, purchasing, and the use of institution equipment computers.
  • Ability to instruct, and supervise the work performance of others.
  • Ability to make decisions and to adapt to changes.
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain positive relationships and courteous interactions with hospital staff and the public.
  • Ability to communicate/read/understand the English written and verbal language to perform essential job functions.
  • Proficient in computer applications: Microsoft Word, Excel and become proficient in food database software and electronic medical record.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food allergies, intolerances and nutritional composition of foods.
  • Ability to show initiative, problem solve, handle responsibility and communicate effectively with leadership and other team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Currently enrolled or completed a college degree program with major studies in food and nutrition, dietetics, culinary arts or hotel and restaurant management preferred
