About The Position

Sioux Area Metro is South Dakota’s largest transportation provider. Our mission is to have a positive social and economic impact on the community by providing a safe and reliable transportation option for all who live, work, or play in Sioux Falls. As a Lead Diesel Mechanic at SAM by Via, you will perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on buses, automotive equipment, and shop equipment.

Requirements

7-10+ years of mechanic experience
Possess knowledge of the design, adjustment, operation, maintenance, and repair of systems and subsystems of SAM coaches and related shop equipment
Able to work on their feet eight hours per day, lift 100 pounds, and carry parts, equipment, and supplies
Class AA and ASE Certified
Hold a valid SD driver’s license
Able to obtain a CDL permit
Able to pass a pre-employment physical
High school diploma or GED equivalent, including trade or vocational school.
Pass a drug screening and background check: no felonies, clean MVR, no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions, and no more than 2 speeding tickets

Nice To Haves

Additional training at manufacturer’s schools, courses, or seminars is a plus.

Responsibilities

Direct highly varied and complex operations related to vehicle and equipment service
Repair and/or replace any subsystem associated with heavy, medium, and/or light duty SAM coaches and automotive equipment
Work with other maintenance workers, drivers, and transportation supervisors
Maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors
