About The Position

As the Lead Diesel Mechanic, you will play a key role in maintaining our fleet and supporting daily shop operations. This role involves assisting with coordinating daily shop workflow, supporting and guiding mechanics on diagnostics and repairs, and promoting and enforcing safe shop practices. You will also conduct safety talks, maintain strong shop communication, and help maintain an organized and efficient shop environment. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing Class 8 tractors and tanker trailers, performing preventative maintenance inspections, and assisting with complex mechanical, electrical, and air system repairs. Ensuring equipment meets DOT and company safety standards and maintaining accurate repair documentation are also key duties. Additionally, you will perform yard checks to verify equipment readiness, assist in scheduling preventative maintenance services, work with parts vendors to ensure timely repairs, and help keep tools and equipment in safe working condition.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience working on Class 8 trucks or heavy diesel equipment
  • Strong mechanical diagnostic and repair skills
  • Basic tools required for diesel repair work
  • Ability to assist and guide other technicians
  • Strong attention to safety and quality workmanship

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a trucking or tanker fleet maintenance shop
  • Leadership or lead mechanic experience
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs
  • CDL is a plus
