About The Position

R. B. Hinkle Construction - a division of Primoris Services Corporation is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Diesel Mechanic to oversee the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of our heavy diesel equipment and vehicles. This role involves leading a team of mechanics, ensuring efficient operations, and maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or vocational training in Diesel Mechanics strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience as a Diesel Mechanic, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • ASE certifications for heavy-duty trucks or equipment preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex diesel engine systems (e.g., Cummins, Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel).
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Experience with diagnostic software and tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in various weather conditions.
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, and on-call as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and overhaul diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other components of heavy construction equipment and utility vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on a variety of diesel-powered equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, bucket trucks, and service vehicles.
  • Lead and mentor a team of diesel mechanics, providing technical guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Schedule and prioritize work orders, ensuring timely and efficient completion of repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and software.
  • Order parts and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Document all repairs, maintenance, and inspections accurately and thoroughly.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other departments.
  • May be required to perform field service calls and roadside repairs as needed.
