About The Position

EPAM is seeking an experienced DevOps / Platform Engineer for a high-impact, client-facing engagement. The engineer will work directly with key client stakeholders on strategic projects with significant visibility and business impact, serving as an expert in cloud infrastructure, automation, and HPC workloads. The role combines solution architecture with hands-on implementation and operations, and requires independent work in a fast-paced environment. The position focuses on designing and maintaining secure, scalable AWS infrastructure; building infrastructure as code and automation; supporting HPC and parallelized compute workloads; managing storage, containers, databases, monitoring, logging, and CI/CD; and collaborating with client teams. The engineer will translate business and user needs into technical documentation and implementable solutions, identify improvements, and help design and build future solutions.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services and a solid understanding of security, networking, and cloud operations fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation, with working knowledge of PowerShell and Bash.
  • Solid experience with Terraform.
  • Experience with HPC or large-scale parallel compute environments, including Auto Scaling Groups and AWS Batch.
  • Practical knowledge of S3 architecture, including cross-account access and usage limits.
  • Experience with Docker and ECR, including building custom images from requirements.
  • Working knowledge of AWS Aurora (PostgreSQL) and SQL query writing.
  • Experience setting up monitoring, logging, and cost-tracking solutions for cloud infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proactive, accountable, and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous user requirements into clear documentation and technical solutions.
  • Service-oriented approach and ability to collaborate effectively with internal client teams to resolve issues.
  • Resourcefulness and self-sufficiency navigating a large organization and building relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to propose and help design future solutions, not only maintain existing ones.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CloudFormation and/or AWS CDK.
  • Exposure to Azure DevOps.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable AWS infrastructure, emphasizing networking, security, and cloud operations best practices.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, with CloudFormation and AWS CDK as needed.
  • Develop automation scripts and tools using Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
  • Architect and support HPC and parallelized compute workloads using Auto Scaling Groups, AWS Batch, and CPU- and GPU-based compute resources.
  • Manage and optimize S3 storage, including bucket policies, access limits, and cross-account access configurations.
  • Build Docker images from scratch based on project requirements and manage container registries through ECR.
  • Work with AWS Aurora (PostgreSQL), including writing and troubleshooting SQL queries.
  • Set up and maintain monitoring and logging for job runs, service utilization, EC2 usage, performance, and cost tracking.
  • Configure and manage CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodeBuild, applying Azure DevOps knowledge where applicable.
  • Partner with client Cloud Ops, Cybersecurity, and Network Security teams to resolve issues and anticipate changes that could affect the environment.
  • Participate in change review meetings to anticipate and mitigate potential impacts.
  • Translate business and user requirements into clear technical documentation and implementable solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, recommend future solutions, and help design and build them.
  • Build relationships across the client organization and identify appropriate contacts for support.
