About The Position

The Lay Up Leads primary responsibilities include keeping the workplace clean and safe, responsible for quality control, assuring on-time delivery, managing production flow, reducing labor costs, training, cause and corrective action process, root cause analysis, and participating in improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ manufacturing experience, with good working knowledge of the manufacturing processes
  • Strong leadership and team building skills.
  • Must be able to work around chemicals and be familiar with HAZMAT guidelines
  • Computer skills as they relate to inventory control, AX, MS Word and Excel, Outlook
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with ability to plan and organize.
  • Willingness to advance to a Production Mentor on any shift.
  • Forklift certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all team members work in a safe and productive manner, with the ability to motivate team to accomplish objectives.
  • Ability to learn to operate all equipment in the Layup Area
  • Set and maintain quality production through effective assignments and management of work and material flow during the shift, take actions to rectify poor quality.
  • Assign themselves to critical areas to achieve production requirements.
  • Train team members in SOP’s and JBS’s and ensure compliance with standards by performing routine audits of work practices
  • Ensure that the plant is handed over to the next shift in an acceptable manner and all issues are communicated
  • Implement and maintain continuous improvement
  • Coordinate and support operational improvement teams in achieving their goals
  • Participate in Kaizen and 5S events
  • Working lead position, able to break and provide coverage to all positions within layup.
  • Be the Quality Control resource on the manufacturing floor
  • Full understanding of TWI and the training process
  • Develop and maintain Job Breakdown Sheets for training in all areas of responsibility
  • Collaborates with the team to identify ways to improve department effectiveness; implements viable ideas.
  • Promote team building and cooperation amongst work centers.
  • Must support the team in achieving all Safety, Production and Quality goals.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
