We’re looking for a Lead Database Engineer to play a pivotal role in designing, optimizing, and scaling enterprise database solutions that support complex, data‑driven business operations. In this role, you’ll serve as both a technical leader and hands‑on engineer, partnering closely with application teams, architects, and business stakeholders to ensure data is secure, reliable, and available when it matters most. You’ll influence database strategy, guide best practices, and mentor engineers—while still diving deep into performance tuning, automation, and problem‑solving. This is an opportunity to make a real impact by shaping modern database environments that support digital transformation initiatives and high‑availability enterprise systems. This is a hybrid position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office at least three days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in database administration across mainframe, Unix, Linux, and Windows environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise‑scale database solutions
  • Drive database architecture decisions with a focus on performance, scalability, security, and reliability
  • Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, data integrity issues, and availability risks
  • Partner with engineering, infrastructure, and business teams to support mission‑critical applications
  • Establish and enforce database standards, best practices, and operational excellence
  • Mentor and guide team members, providing technical leadership and thought partnership
