Lead Data Scientist
About The Position
LexisNexis Legal & Professional, a global provider of information-based analytics and decision tools, is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to lead a team building and deploying advanced AI and machine learning solutions. The company has a long history of using AI in the legal market and is committed to ethical AI development, employing over 2,000 technologists, data scientists, and experts. As a Lead Data Scientist, you will define the scope and direction of data science initiatives, lead the development and deployment of AI/ML models, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. You will also mentor junior data scientists and drive best practices within the data science functions.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in a senior data scientist role, delivering high-quality results
- Experience leading complex projects and building strong customer or stakeholder relationships
- Experience leading technical teams and guiding end-to-end delivery
- Experience mentoring or training others, acting as a subject matter expert to support colleague development
- Strong problem-solving approach, able to take a lead in collaborating to resolve issues
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to senior stakeholders
- Experience working directly with large language models and Transformer based architectures including BERT, RoBERTa, T5 etc., and applying recent LLMs including ChatGPT, GPT 3.5, OPT, BLOOM, etc.
- Strong coding skills in Python or another programming language, with experience working with large datasets and distributed computing systems (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and deployment of advanced AI and machine learning models to solve complex business problems
- Partner with other data scientists and engineers to design, develop, and deploy AI solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure AI solutions are aligned with business goals and customer needs
- Analyze large datasets to identify patterns and trends that inform AI development
- Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
- Mentor junior data scientists and provide guidance on AI and machine learning best practices
- Drive best practices across our data science functions, setting strategy and team direction with a clear vision for Data Science
- Evaluate and create new frameworks and define methodologies and governance, setting a high bar for model development
