We are looking for a Lead Data Scientist within our Innovation Department to help shape the future of our business. The successful candidate will bring strategic thinking, exceptional analytical and consultative skills, and a depth of experience solving complex business problems across diverse functional domains at scale. In this newly created role, you will:

Requirements

  • PhD with 5+ years combined experience in data science and/or management consulting; or, MBA or Master's degree in a discipline requiring quantitative methods, and 10+ years combined experience in data science and/or management consulting. Insurance experience is a plus.
  • Proven experience leading and executing disruptive product, market, customer, process, logistics, or technology assessment studies at scale that resulted in positive ROI.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to set a level of methodological rigor appropriate to study goals.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively at every level within the organization, with collaborating universities and faculty, and vendor partners.
  • Highly proficient in data science methods and practice, especially in managing financial risk.
  • Very strong writing, visual creation, and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of data transformation, data visualization, reporting, and statistical tools and programming languages (e.g., SQL, R, Python, Julia, Qlik, Tableau, Snowflake, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior executives to envision future business directions.
  • Serve as the primary investigator for significant market opportunities and emerging threats.
  • Design and execute studies to drive strategic business innovation and answer complex business questions.
  • Translate complex data and analytical results into clear, actionable insights for executive and business audiences.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, translating complex technical results into actionable executive insights and educating staff on emerging technologies.
  • Imagine, invent, prototype, and socialize innovative applications of AI/GenAI or other technologies that create new products, open new markets, reduce financial risk, or deliver superior service to our customers or stakeholders.
  • Mentor other data scientists and help mature the practice of data science within the company.
