About The Position

The Lead Data Engineer provides high-level technical input and guidance to developers, project teams, and business units on complex project definition, application design, implementation, integration, cost estimation, standardization, and support. The role leads day-to-day operations of data platforms and the delivery of functional enhancements, including maintaining uptime for Snowflake, Qlik, and Boomi platforms and minimizing downtime. The position guides database engineers, database administrators, and back-office application support teams in designing, developing, testing, and implementing projects. It supports projects throughout the software development lifecycle, designs database architecture and integrations, evaluates applications for performance and automation opportunities, and establishes development and implementation processes across the IT organization. The role coordinates Agile/SCRUM or DevOps teams, develops technical estimates for small- to medium-scale projects, contributes as a senior technical resource across multiple projects, mentors others, and provides management with timely status reports. The position also performs other assigned duties and complies with regulatory and training requirements, including applicable BSA regulations.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent years of experience required.
7–10 years of prior relevant experience required.
Experience with Snowflake required.
Knowledge of database platforms, rated High.
Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, rated High.
Knowledge of data integration services, rated High.
Knowledge of Agile methodology and SCRUM, rated High.
Knowledge of Information Technology Service Management, rated High.
Knowledge of analytical platforms, rated High.
Knowledge of data management best practices, rated High.

Nice To Haves

SnowPro certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide technical input and guidance on complex project definition, application design, implementation, integration, cost estimation, standardization, and support.
Lead day-to-day data platform operations and delivery of team functional enhancements.
Maintain operational data platform uptime and minimize downtime for Snowflake, Qlik, and Boomi.
Identify efficiency opportunities and work with teams to streamline processes and technology.
Work with the manager to prioritize service requests and coordinate assignment of developers’ work.
Provide technical assistance, manage project schedules and tasks, and ensure timely delivery of assignments.
Provide technical guidance to database engineers, database administrators, and back-office application support teams on project design, development, testing, and implementation.
Make independent decisions regarding project design, development, timelines, and implementation.
Provide daily support throughout all phases of the SDLC and ensure successful project delivery.
Perform database- and integration-related support for major applications.
Design database architecture and integration additions to existing applications and systems.
Evaluate existing applications and identify performance and automation opportunities.
Establish development and implementation processes for the IT organization.
Coordinate teams using modern development methodologies such as SCRUM/Agile or DevOps.
Research industry trends and propose technologies to support existing needs.
Coordinate and develop technical project estimates for small- to medium-scale projects involving one or more developers.
Act as a senior technical resource across multiple projects and provide guidance on design, deliverables, and software component integrations.
Share technology expertise and train and mentor others in technologies and development processes.
Provide management with accurate and timely status reports on assigned work.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Comply with regulatory compliance and assigned training requirements, including applicable BSA regulations.
