About The Position

Spotfire is a business unit of Cloud Software Group, a major enterprise software company. Spotfire integrates visualizations and advanced analytics to enable domain experts to discover industry-specific solutions that are beyond human or computer capabilities alone. The global Customer Success team is integral to the company's strategy, focusing on customers, innovation, and the community of scientists, engineers, and data scientists. This team guides customers in successfully adopting and maximizing the value of their Spotfire investment. Customer Success Data Scientists have a proven track record across various sectors, including improving drilling operations in energy companies, increasing yield in semiconductor companies, and ensuring on-time deliveries for global logistics firms. We are seeking a Lead Customer Success Data Scientist for the North America region, preferably based in Colorado, United States, though other US locations (excluding New York and California) will be considered. This role is ideal for a candidate with demonstrated expertise in Manufacturing, Energy, or Life Sciences industries and a strong enthusiasm for Visual Data Science. The successful candidate will be the primary driver of long-term customer success for a portfolio of clients, aiming for high adoption, retention, and satisfaction. They will act as a trusted advisor to all customer stakeholders and serve as the main point of contact between the customer and internal Spotfire teams. This role requires leveraging hands-on skills and thought leadership to significantly enhance customers' analytical capabilities using Spotfire. A core responsibility involves developing analytical deliverables using methods ranging from exploratory analytics to machine learning, statistical modeling, and AI. As part of a highly collaborative team, the individual will deliver outcomes that improve both product and account health. Additionally, there will be opportunities to represent Spotfire at industry events and contribute to the customer and partner community.

Requirements

  • 6-8+ years of data science experience using software environments and programming languages such as Spotfire, Tableau, Qlikview, SPSS, KNIME, Dataiku, Azure, AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, and programming languages like Python, R.
  • Experience with other software components for data preparation and integration (e.g., Data Virtualization) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SQL, .Net, Java, IronPython, Javascript, C++ and knowledge of Generative AI is a plus.
  • 6-8+ years of experience in advanced data analytics and delivery of demonstrations, projects, engagements, or deployed software applications.
  • Problem-solver with experience applying advanced analytics such as machine learning and optimization techniques to large, complex, and disparate data sources.
  • 6-8+ years of experience in applying analytics to sector-specific data problems in key industries such as Manufacturing, Energy, Transportation & Logistics, Financial Services, Telecommunications, and Life Sciences.
  • Ability to formulate a real-world problem into a mathematical equivalent, propose various solutions, compare and contrast them, deploy the solutions, validate the results, and present them to stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to proactively influence and cultivate long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as customers' senior technical personnel.
  • Ability to provide compelling software demonstrations and apply domain knowledge to analytical applications, communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences using storytelling.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively in internal and customer team environments and manage multiple projects to a successful outcome.
  • Master’s or higher degree in STEM (Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Science, or related analytical field of study) with graduate classes in statistics and data mining.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
  • Must have full working rights for the United States.

  • Fluency in either Spanish or Portuguese is a plus, as this role involves interaction with customers and partners in Latin America.

Responsibilities

  • Use Spotfire and data science skills to collaborate with customers, translating their business objectives into actionable success plans.
  • Develop a deep understanding of industry analytics use cases.
  • Customer Success plans include onboarding, adoption, monitoring support, managing upgrades, enabling new features, and establishing a center of excellence.
  • Build consultative relationships and act as a trusted advisor by understanding customer needs through regular health assessments, helping navigate challenges, and fostering long-term customer advocacy.
  • Perform and guide R&D on applied machine learning and AI, translating customer business goals into technical objectives, and creating custom solutions for industry use cases.
  • Build prototypes for projects including Large Language Models, digital twins, anomaly detection in time series, or mathematical modeling of manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with sales, support, product management, and engineering to align strategy, improve customer outcomes, resolve escalations, identify sales opportunities, and provide product roadmap input.
  • Gather detailed information, perform analysis, and conduct investigations to address numerous, often undefined, problems and requests.
  • Actively engage with customers in the Spotfire community to drive adoption and enablement.
  • Contribute relevant industry and data science content.
  • Represent the team as a speaker or instructor in industry events and external conferences.
  • Continue to develop expertise and monitor trends in industry analytics and visual data science tools and techniques.
  • Achieve operational targets with significant impact on departmental results, working with limited oversight.
  • Provide coaching and training to other employees within the job area.
