About The Position

The Lead Customer Service Representative position involves providing prompt and excellent customer service, handling sales transactions accurately, maintaining store cleanliness and condition, managing merchandise and inventory, overseeing shift operations, ensuring security, and performing administrative duties. This role also includes supervising customer service representatives in the absence of the Store Assistant Manager, coaching and training new employees, and potentially directing the fast food service area. The position requires adherence to company policies and standards, including attendance, dress code, and reporting procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in retail sales preferred.
  • Ability to work with the specified equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to work as scheduled, including arriving to work on time.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively.
  • Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) preferred.
  • Ability to perform essential duties and physical functions.
  • Ability to work in the described conditions.
  • Ability to be exposed to cold or warm temperature extremes, including occasional work in a walk-in cooler/freezer and outdoors.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist.
  • Ability to grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands for the entire shift.
  • Ability to push/pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds.
  • Ability to reach overhead for objects.
  • Ability to bend and twist at the waist.
  • Ability to communicate orally.
  • Ability to operate a cash register and/or computer keyboard.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, squat, bend, push, and pull.
  • Ability to work alone.
  • Ability to be exposed to occasional noise.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for an entire shift.
  • May require climbing a ladder to store and retrieve materials or place and remove signs.
  • Perform approximately 95% of all work indoors, but will be required to clean parking lots, gas pumps, take out garbage, etc.
  • Exposure to extreme cold temperatures while performing occasional work in a walk-in cooler and/or freezer.
  • Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provides prompt, excellent customer service in a courteous, friendly, and attentive manner.
  • Greets customers, thanks them as they leave, and offers assistance or suggestions.
  • Rings up sales accurately, handling various payment types.
  • Performs multi-function operations of fuel consoles, lottery machines, money order machines, and telecom transactions.
  • Maintains store facility cleanliness and equipment condition, both inside and out.
  • Inspects facilities and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and proper working order, contacting maintenance for repairs.
  • Completes build-to’s for ordering/purchasing merchandise.
  • Receives and verifies vendor deliveries.
  • Maintains adequate stock and supplies, rotating stock properly.
  • Places advertising and pricing signage.
  • Controls merchandise, cash shortages, and other selling expenses.
  • Assists in maintaining proper inventory levels and shift audits.
  • Monitors shift sales, cash handling procedures, and daily close-out functions.
  • Notifies the Store Manager of any discrepancies in sales, cash, inventory, or operations.
  • Supervises customer service representatives in the absence of the Store Assistant Manager.
  • Coaches and trains new employees on duties and standards.
  • Monitors customer traffic and adjusts staffing or reassigns duties as needed.
  • Assists with employee counseling and provides performance feedback.
  • May provide direction for managing the fast food service area.
  • Changes gasoline prices correctly according to strategy.
  • Reports all incidents, including injuries, theft, property damage, or sanitation issues, to the Store Manager.
  • Reports any unsafe, unlawful, or unethical conduct.
  • Performs shift change duties, including counting cash drawers and completing reports.
  • Ensures accurate timekeeping records for all employees.
  • May take inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Attends job-related meetings and completes daily store reports.
  • Provides regular and predictable onsite attendance.
