About The Position

The Lead Customer Service Representative position is responsible for providing prompt, excellent customer service, handling sales transactions accurately, maintaining store cleanliness and appearance, managing merchandise and inventory, overseeing shift operations, and ensuring security and safety protocols are followed. This role also involves assisting with employee coaching, training, and supervision in the absence of management. The position requires adherence to company policies and standards, including reporting any discrepancies or incidents to the Store Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in retail sales preferred.
  • Ability to work with the equipment, tools, and materials listed.
  • Ability to work as scheduled, including arriving to work on time.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
  • Ability to perform the four (4) basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply and divide) preferred.
  • Ability to perform essential duties and physical functions described.
  • Ability to work in the conditions described.
  • Ability to be exposed to cold or warm temperature extremes performing occasional work in a walk-in cooler and/or freezer and outdoors.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist.
  • Ability to grasp, reach and manipulate objects with hands for entire shift.
  • Ability to push/pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds.
  • Able to reach overhead for objects.
  • Ability to bend and twist at waist.
  • Ability to communicate orally.
  • Ability to operate a cash register and/or computer keyboard.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, squat, bend, push, and pull.
  • Ability to work alone.
  • Be exposed to occasional noise.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for an entire shift.
  • May require climbing a ladder to store and retrieve materials or place and remove signs.
  • Perform approximately 95% of all work indoors, but will be required to clean parking lots, gas pumps, take out garbage, etc.
  • Exposure to extreme cold temperatures while performing occasional work in a walk in cooler and/or freezer.
  • Exposure to occasional noise.
  • Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provides prompt, excellent customer service in a courteous, friendly, and attentive manner.
  • Greets customers upon entry and thanks them upon departure.
  • Offers assistance, suggestions, and recommendations to customers.
  • Rings up sales accurately, handling various payment methods.
  • Operates fuel console, lottery machines, money order machine, and telecom transactions.
  • Maintains store cleanliness and equipment condition to company standards, including inside and outside areas.
  • Performs basic upkeep and cleaning of all store equipment.
  • Inspects store facilities and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and proper working order, reporting maintenance needs.
  • Completes build-to’s for ordering and purchasing merchandise.
  • Receives and verifies vendor deliveries.
  • Maintains adequate stock and supplies, rotating stock properly.
  • Places advertising and pricing signage.
  • Controls merchandise, cash shortages, and other selling expenses.
  • Assists in maintaining proper inventory levels and performing shift audits.
  • Monitors shift sales, cash handling procedures, and daily close-out functions.
  • Notifies the Store Manager of any sales, cash, inventory, or operating discrepancies.
  • May receive and sign for vendor deliveries, verifying quality and quantity.
  • Follows guidelines for product breakage or spoilage.
  • Supervises customer service representatives in the absence of the Store Assistant Manager.
  • Coaches and trains new employees on duties and company standards.
  • Monitors customer traffic and adjusts staffing to decrease wait times.
  • May reschedule or re-assign employee duties based on operational needs.
  • Assists with employee counseling and provides performance feedback.
  • May provide direction for managing the fast-food service area.
  • Knows and correctly changes gasoline prices according to strategy.
  • Reports all incidents (injuries, theft, damage, sanitation issues) to the Store Manager.
  • Reports any unsafe, unlawful, or unethical conduct.
  • Performs shift change duties, including counting cash drawers, recording employee purchases, and completing reports.
  • Ensures accurate timekeeping records for all employees.
  • May take inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Attends job-related meetings and may be required to work irregular hours.
  • Provides regular and predictable onsite attendance.
  • Completes daily store reports and other duties as assigned.
