About The Position

The Lead Customer Service Representative position is responsible for providing prompt, excellent customer service, maintaining store facility conditions, managing merchandising and sales, overseeing financial and security controls, and assisting with staffing and administrative duties. This role involves supervising customer service representatives in the absence of the Store Assistant Manager, coaching and training new employees, monitoring customer traffic, and providing feedback for performance improvement. The position may also involve directing the fast food service area and managing gasoline pricing strategies. The role requires adherence to company policies, accurate handling of transactions, and reporting of any discrepancies or incidents to the Store Manager.

  • Ability to grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands for the entire shift.
  • Ability to push/pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds.
  • Able to reach overhead for objects.
  • Ability to bend and twist at waist.
  • Ability to communicate orally.
  • Ability to operate a cash register and/or computer keyboard.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, squat, bend, push, and pull.
  • Ability to work alone.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for an entire shift.
  • May require climbing a ladder to store and retrieve materials or place and remove signs.
  • Perform approximately 95% of all work indoors, but will be required to clean parking lots, gas pumps, take out garbage, etc.
  • Exposure to extreme cold temperatures while performing occasional work in a walk-in cooler and/or freezer.
  • Exposure to occasional noise.
  • Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in retail sales preferred.
  • Ability to perform the four (4) basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply and divide) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides prompt, excellent customer service in a courteous, friendly, and attentive manner.
  • Greets customers, offers assistance, suggestions, and recommendations.
  • Rings up sales accurately, handling various payment types.
  • Operates fuel console, lottery machines, money order machine, and telecom transactions.
  • Maintains store cleanliness and equipment condition to company standards, both inside and out.
  • Performs basic upkeep and cleaning of all store equipment.
  • Inspects store facilities and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and proper working order, contacting maintenance for repairs.
  • Completes build-to’s for ordering/purchasing merchandise.
  • Receives and verifies vendor deliveries.
  • Maintains adequate stock and supplies, rotating stock properly.
  • Places advertising and pricing signage.
  • Controls merchandise, cash shortages, and other selling expenses.
  • Assists in maintaining proper inventory levels and shift audits.
  • Monitors shift sales, cash handling procedures, and daily close-out functions.
  • Notifies the Store Manager of any sales, cash, inventory, or operating discrepancies.
  • May receive and sign vendor deliveries, verifying quality and quantity.
  • Follows guidelines for product breakage or spoilage.
  • Supervises customer service representatives in the absence of the Store Assistant Manager.
  • Coaches and trains new employees on duties and standards.
  • Monitors customer traffic and adjusts staffing to decrease waiting time.
  • May reschedule or re-assign duties of employees based on operational or discipline needs.
  • Assists with counseling employees and provides feedback for performance improvement.
  • May provide direction for managing the fast food service area.
  • Knows and correctly changes gasoline prices.
  • Reports all incidents including injuries, theft, property damage, or improper sanitation/waste disposal to the Store Manager.
  • Reports any situation involving unsafe, unlawful, or unethical conduct.
  • Performs duties associated with shift change, including counting cash drawers and completing reports.
  • Ensures accurate timekeeping records for all employees.
  • May take inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Attends job-related meetings.
  • Provides regular and predictable onsite attendance.
  • Completes daily store reports and other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
