About The Position

The Lead Custodian will be responsible for supporting the basic needs of the department/school and will play an integral part in ensuring a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient environment for students to learn and develop.

Requirements

High School Diploma or G.E.D.
MSDS and Bloodborne pathogens training
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Must possess ability to work with and communicate with students, staff, and vendors
Providing customer service.
Perform as directed, responsible for own job under no direct supervision.
Following directions and meeting standards.
Providing attention to detail in assignments.
Comprehending reference books and manuals.
Organizing and maintaining supplies.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices.
Knowledge of uses and properties of vacuum buffers, extractors, cleaning chemicals, and general custodial hand tools.
Willingness to be an integral member of a successful team.
Dedication to provide the highest level of service.
Adherence to policies and procedures.
Resourceful and adaptable.
Must perform tasks within assigned area and timeframe.
Periodic stress due to deadlines and multiple schedules.

Responsibilities

Assists the Plant Foreman in hiring Custodial staff and issues assignments to each employee on the shift.
Assist in training and orientation of new custodians.
Keeps assigned building and premises, sidewalks and driveways neat and clean during working hours.
Sweeps, vacuums, dusts, and empty trash daily.
Cleans all sinks and other such fixtures.
Maintains a daily inventory of supplies and reports the need for replacements.
Reports safety hazards and the need for major and minor repairs.
Responsible for plant security during the shift and for final security of the plant at the close of the shift.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
