About The Position

The Uinta County School District# 1 Lead Custodian supports the school by providing leadership and direction and has an essential role in planning for and maintaining the building, grounds, and physical plant, and supporting a learning environment that promotes the health, attitude, and pride of students working to support the success of students academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of experience in custodial work preferred
  • Knowledge of hand, power, and diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, codes, and guidelines pertaining to custodial operations
  • Knowledge of all safety precautions applicable to trade
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices
  • Knowledge of the application, use, and proper storage of chemicals used in the performance of the job
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste disposal
  • Skilled active listener
  • Skilled at asking questions and understanding multiple points of view
  • Skilled communicator who can convey information clearly and effectively, orally and written
  • Ability to analyze ideas and use logic to determine their strengths and weaknesses
  • Ability to use reasoning to discover answers to problems

Responsibilities

  • Providing direction, feedback, and guidance to custodial crews.
  • Assigning work to team members.
  • Inspecting completed work and providing support.
  • Providing training and guidance.
  • Providing input to the building administrator on performance and reliability.
  • Bookkeeping of the custodial budget, including ordering supplies, tracking purchases, and record keeping for future supply needs.
  • Ordering and maintaining all equipment.
  • Staying up-to-date on product pricing.
  • Serving as a liaison between building administrators, the Facilities and Maintenance Department, staff, and community.
  • Keeping buildings clean and orderly, including trash collection, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, scrubbing tables, and cleaning restrooms.
  • Maintenance and care for building plants.
  • Sweeping entries and sidewalks.
  • Changing the message on the marquee.
  • Keeping cleaning closets stocked and refilling cleaning solution bottles.
  • Assisting with traffic flow and placement of orange cones.
  • Daily maintenance of the cafeteria, including cleaning tables, sweeping and scrubbing floors, trash removal, and setup/takedown of tables and chairs.
  • Assisting Cafeteria staff as needed.
  • Performing seasonal deep cleaning during summers and holiday breaks.
  • Maintaining building safety and security, including checking doors and windows.
  • Maintaining working knowledge of all chemicals used, their proper storage, and handling.
  • Checking fire extinguishers for compliance.
  • Staying aware of safety concerns within the building or on the grounds.
  • Keeping a schedule of regular monthly preventative maintenance.
  • Informing the custodial team of emergency shut-off valves and emergency phone numbers.
  • Participating in crisis management meetings and emergency drills.
  • Keeping building staff updated on crisis management information.
  • Ensuring all PPE is up to date.
  • Performing snow and ice removal to keep building grounds safe.
  • Checking roof drains for ice build-up.

Benefits

  • S2; 5-9; $21.70 per hour
