About The Position

This position provides leadership and assistance in the cleanliness and maintenance of the physical facility to ensure a safe, clean, and habitable environment. The Lead Custodian reports to the Head Custodian and is responsible for overseeing the work of custodians, performing cleaning and maintenance tasks, and ensuring the proper operation of equipment and systems.

Requirements

• Ability to read and understand basic operating instructions.
• Demonstrate aptitude for successful completion of tasks assigned.
• Possess a basic understanding of the chemicals and processes used in the cleaning schedule.
• Lift and move furniture, cartons, boxes and buckets weighing in excess of 50 pounds, with or without accommodation.

• Observe cleaning and maintenance needs or requirements for the areas assigned and report these to head custodian.
• After hours or on non-school days the lead person is to inspect the safe, efficient and proper operation of all equipment and systems.
• This includes securing windows and entryways.
• Lead person is responsible for visually inspecting their assigned shift areas to ensure cleanliness, and monitoring the custodian’s work performance.
• Able to handle emergencies and emergency repairs.
• Report all concerns regarding the work performance, lateness, etc. of the custodians to the head custodian.
• Assume responsibility for other duties as assigned.
• Nurture a positive relationship with super-ordinates, subordinates, and peers.
• Demonstrate respect for super-ordinates, subordinates, and peers.
• Support corporation decisions and direction relative to matters of policy and administrative directives.
• Work as a team player.
• Demonstrate ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.
• Address concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner.
