About The Position

The Lead CT Technologist is responsible for the coordination of CT activities to support patient care management. This role involves performing time and attendance, coordinating outpatient and inpatient exams, communicating with ancillary departments, checking requisitions, consulting with physicians, ensuring effective patient/exam information documentation, monitoring department productivity, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. The Lead CT Technologist also develops and revises protocols, performs CT procedures, obtains patient history, administers contrast, monitors patient condition, schedules exams, distributes oral contrast information, performs advanced imaging and post-processing, ensures proper billing and coding, and assumes on-call responsibilities. Additionally, this role assists in the implementation and training of new technologists, develops competency criteria, ensures continuing education, seeks learning opportunities, and works with radiologists to revise scanning protocols. The Lead CT Technologist also maintains equipment and examination rooms, performs quality assurance testing, participates in ACR accreditation, ensures work areas are safe and sanitary, and assists with equipment evaluation and purchase. Finally, they maintain appropriate inventory of supplies.

Requirements

  • 5 years experience in CT
  • Associates of Certificate of Radiologic Technology
  • 1 hour annually in stroke care
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good customer relations.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • ARRT Registration

  • CPR Certification
  • CT Registration
  • Knowledge of all areas of the department.
  • Ability to wear a lead apron during procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Performs time and attendance bi-weekly for staff.
  • Coordinates all outpatient and inpatient exams and procedures in all CT locations.
  • Communicates with ancillary departments and nursing to coordinate care.
  • Checks all requisitions ensuring all tests are ordered correctly and entered into the Radiology Information System.
  • Provides advice and direction regarding the technical standards per procedure.
  • Consults with ordering physicians and Radiologists.
  • Ensures effective patient/exam information is documented and communicated.
  • Monitors department productivity levels and work functions insuring staff development and competency levels to meet demands.
  • Provides overall direction in the planning of cross training for Associates.
  • Schedules department staff and insures utilization of staff.
  • Ensures adherence to department and hospital policies and procedures by the CT staff.
  • Develops and/or revises protocols to meet American College Of Radiology standards and DNV requirements.
  • Performs computerized tomography procedures according to the policies, procedures and filming requirements approved by the Medical Director and the Manager of radiology Operations.
  • Obtains patient history and other relevant information, and documents this information appropriately.
  • Performs venipuncture, following the policy and procedures of the department, and administers contrast material as prescribed by the Radiologist.
  • Monitors patient’s condition during all procedures.
  • Schedules patient exams when necessary.
  • Distributes oral contrast and prep information to patients.
  • Performs advanced imaging and post processing.
  • Ensures proper billing and coding of procedures.
  • Assumes on call responsibilities.
  • Assists in the implementation and training of staff or new technologists.
  • Develops competency criteria for equipment and exams.
  • Ensures all staff participate in continuing education and keep current with equipment and procedures.
  • Seek learning opportunities to keep current with industry trends.
  • Works with radiologist to review and revise department scanning protocols.
  • Ensures proper use of equipment and notifies the Service Engineer and Manager of any equipment malfunction.
  • Performs quality assurance testing on all C.T. equipment and maintains record.
  • Participates in acquiring American College of Radiology accreditation for the CT department.
  • Ensures timely submission of application and images for continual compliance.
  • Ensures work areas are safe, sanitary and well maintained.
  • Assists with the evaluation and purchase of new capital equipment.
  • Checks the expiration dates of all supplies weekly.
  • Maintains supplies on the biopsy cart.
  • Advises the Materials Manager of needed supplies and appropriate par levels.
